Fed: Man admits to being accessory in Saudi murder case

CANBERRA, April 12 AAP - A Sydney man has pleaded guilty to being an accessory after
the fact in the murder of a Saudi Arabian diplomat.

Murat Kurt, 28, will be sentenced in June after pleading guilty in the ACT Supreme Court today.

Kurt was one of four people charged in relation to the 1998 murder of Abdullah Al Ghamdi
in Canberra.

The other three - Melissa Moussa, 22, her husband Riza Yilmaz, 28, and Mutlu Yildiz,
25, all of Sydney, are expected to apply for separate trials on murder charges which may
be held later this year.

Mr Al Ghamdi, 54, the first-secretary at the Saudi embassy, was found dead in his Kingston
apartment on October 13, 1998. He had been stabbed 29 times.

The prosecution has alleged Moussa, before her marriage, was involved in a relationship
with Mr Al Ghamdi for about two months before his death.

When she broke it off, he made a series of harassing phone calls and it was allegedly
arranged for the four accused to travel to Canberra to sort him out.
