NSW: Doctors, chiropractors tussle over turf.
A turf war has broken out between doctors and chiropractors over who should get theirhands on spinal problems.
The issue's arisen because of a review of national competition policy being done bystate governments.
The Chiropractors Association says under the review, health professionals would beregistered by a range of restricted core practices rather than by profession.
It says this means doctors, osteopaths, physiotherapists and chiropractors would bethe only four groups registered to perform spinal manipulations.
But the Association says its members are the only group adequately trained to carryout those manipulations.
The Australian Medical Association disputes this, saying doctors are fully trainedto do so and more qualified than any other group.
